In person, by filling out a voter registration form at your county clerk's office at 2001 South State Street, S1100; the last day to register in person for the primary election is June 7 and for the general election it is October 18.
By mail, by filling out a mail-in voter registration (available online at the County Clerk's web site) form and mailing it to your county clerk's office; the form must be postmarked by May 24 for the primary election and by October 4 for the general election.
When you apply for services at most state and federal social service agencies, such as the Drivers License Division, Division of Workforce Services, Utah State Department of Health, Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Offices, the Division of Services for People with Disabilities, the Department of Rehabilitation, and public colleges and universities.

Internal Audit

The growth of web-based transactions makes it imperative that electronic information be as secure as our financial resources. We have successfully lobbied and collaborated to put countywide information technology (IT) policies and procedures in place to meet this change, and many of our staff have been certified as Information Systems Auditors. Our extra set of eyes protects and saves your tax dollars and identifies areas where operational efficiencies can be improved and goals better achieved. Management and Budget
The tentative budget and revenue projections from our Management and Budget Division provide citizens, county employees, and elected officials a fiscal starting line free from political pressure. The Tax Division's duties include the preparation and mailing of the notice of property valuation and tax change, administering the appeals process, reconciling tax collections, and conducting the annual tax sale of delinquent properties. Maneuvering through the tax system is often difficult. We have included links to all of the relevant websites and forms to help you through the process.
The Clerk's Office purpose is to conduct fair, open and honest elections, to issue marriage licenses, receive and transmit passport applications, and to prepare and retain all minutes, agendas and correspondence for the Salt Lake County Council, zoning, redevelopment agency, special district, and municipal bonding authority meetings.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office has over 236 employees, including more than 99 attorneys. Those dedicated individuals ensure the safety of our community by prosecuting the serious crimes committed in Salt Lake County. In addition to prosecuting felony crimes committed in the County and misdemeanors committed in unincorporated Salt Lake County, the DA’s Office provides civil legal services for numerous county agencies.
In Utah, the duties and functions of county recorders are set forth in Utah statute. (U.C.A Title 17,Chapter 21)
Those functions are to:
Be the custodian of all recorded documents and records.
Protect all recorded documents and records in the recorder’s custody.
Make and furnish certified copies of any of the records in the office to interested parties.
Keep an entry record of the names of the parties to a recorded instrument, its date, the hour, the day of the month and the year of recording, a brief description, and assign it an entry number.
Keep an alphabetical and reverse grantor’s index.
Keep an alphabetical and reverse grantee’s index.
Keep an alphabetical and reverse mortgagor’s index.
Keep an alphabetical and reverse mortgagee’s index.
Keep a tract index showing a true chain of title to each tract or parcel, together with their encumbrances.
Keep an index of recorded maps, plats, and subdivisions.
Keep a miscellaneous index.
Keep an index of judgments.
Keep a general recording index.
Keep a record of all military discharges that are presented to the recorder.
Prepare and keep ownership plats drawn to a convenient scale, which show the record of each tract of land in the county, together with the dimensions of the tract.
Each year, prepare copies of ownership plats and descriptions, showing recorded owners at noon on January 1, and transmit the copies to the county assessor.
Report all changes in recorded ownership of real property to the county assessor.
The mission of the Sheriff's Office is: The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the community, proactively protects and serves the community through progressive, comprehensive, and cost-effective law enforcement, corrections initiatives and court services.
By Utah State Code, the Salt Lake County Surveyor's Office is to:
Perform all boundary, topographical, and property surveys of county properties, parks, recreational facilities, engineering improvements, and land to be purchased and/or sold by/to Salt Lake County.
Maintain a depository and review process for plats of all surveys where property corner monuments were set to establilsh property boundaries.
Create and maintain a geographical mapping system showing voting, legislative, and school districts.
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of section corner and accessory monumentation in Salt Lake County.
Re-establish any lost or obliterated section corner monuments.
Develop and maintain a street centerline addressing system to assist the County in parcel identification, law enforcement response time, and verification of special project boundaries.
Preserve the location of section corner monuments by utilizing a Global Positioning System (GPS) to establish State Plane Coordinates.
Establish and maintain an elevation bench mark system based on mean sea level datum.
Maintain current and historical aerial photography maps of the County.
Perform forensic surveys and recreate graphical depictions of crime scenes for law enforcement agencies.
Perform surveys as requested by other County Government agencies.
The County Treasurer is the elected official responsible for the billing and collection of real property taxes, administration of statutory tax relief programs, banking, investment, and cash management of all County funds.
