Freedom. Opportunity. Security.
| My philosophy of government focuses on freedom, opportunity, and security. |
Freedom
Freedom form unnecessary government intrusions in our private lives and businesses.
|
 |
This does not mean no government. Government is of the people, by the people, and for the people. Government must provide a framework that protects each individual's freedom, opportunity, and security and preserves these values for future generations.
Some government "intrusions" are absolutely necessary. We rely on our elected officials and the proffessionals they appoint and hire to protect the common good from the profit motives of the minority. This value ensures I will make preservation of our canyons a top priority when I am elected.
Furthermore, government can offer a wide variety of services without being intrusive. Read more in my short article on the proper role of government. |

Opportunity
Opportunity for education and employment.
|
| The government cannot offer equality of outcomes. However, more than 200 years of political progress in the United States have served to confirm our resolve to provide equality of opportunity. |
Security
Security from threats to our families and our well being.
|
 |
Security has nothing to do with simply inciting fear of terrorist attack and distrust of foreigners. Security has little to do with long lines at the airport and bulging jails and prisons.
Of course we must keep our streets and neighborhoods safe from criminal activity - but we need to do it without fear mongering and xenophobic public policy.
And more than physical security, our families deserve the security of knowing they won't be forced into bankruptcy to care for a sick child. Our youth deserve the security of knowing they don't have to mortgage their futures to pay for school. Our grandparents deserve the security of a dignified retirement. |

As citizens of the United States and of the great state of Utah, we have an opportunity to participate in the political process. YOU have an opportunity to participate in the political process.
First, REGISTER (you can register online) and VOTE (you can download the County's permanent vote by mail application - it's a PDF so you will need the reader - and have your ballot sent to you).
Next, if you find a candidate you like (like me, for example) VOLUNTEER or DONATE.
